Auricula AU Suite of ear training plug-ins are designed for audio producers & engineers. Sharpen your ability to recognize and isolate aucoustic variations in your recordings.
You provide an audio file and the Auricula plug-in will manipulate the sound automatically in some way – it's then up to you to make a guess and see if you heard what changed. Your scores will improve the more you practice and you'll become a better listener!


Helices : EQ / Timbre
Learn to identify frequency bands by octave, using five filter types, over a ten octave range.

Helices Pro : EQ / Timbre
Helices Pro narrows the affected band of frequencies to 1/3 of an octave. Can you say 3 times harder?

Concha : EQ Cloning
Listen to a randomly generated, single band of paramtric EQ then modify your own EQ settings to match.

Concha Pro : EQ Cloning
Listen to a randomly generated 10-band graphic EQ, then modify your own EQ settings to match.

Malleus : Gain Changes
Ever wonder what a dB sounds like? Develop an intuitive grasp of level differences as measured in decibels.

Scapha : Compression
Reducing the dynamic range of a recording is all too common. Are you able to detect it?

Incus : Stereo Imaging
Learn to recognize common changes to the stereo field: phase reversal, sum to mono, channel swap, left heavy mix, right heavy mix, and more.

Stapes : Time Delay
Learn to recognize delay and determine the elapsed time difference in milliseconds.

Tragus : Distortion
Distortion changes the harmonic content in a signal. Sometimes this is done on purpose, but if not, you should know how to recognize it.

Maetus : Reverberation
Meatus simulates different acoustic environments, such as; concert halls, echo chambers, rooms, and more... Your source material will sound as if it were actually recorded in a different space. Can you tell which space? Meatus also simulates different artificial reverbs. Best used on individual tracks, not mixes.
