This maintenance release includes numerous program enhancements and optimizations. The 5.11 update also includes hundreds of new presets for DP5's six included virtual instrument plug-ins.

Universal Binary:

This version of Digital Performer is the first to be fully compatible with both the new Intel based Mac systems, as well as PowerPC-based G4 and G5 Mac computers.

Add Instrument Track:

There is a new option in the Project > Add Instrument Tracks menu named Add Instruments... Selecting this will bring up a dialog that allows you to choose how many of the selected instrument to add, how many MIDI Tracks to add that will be assigned to the selected instrument, and whether or not the new Instrument and MIDI Tracks get added to a new Track Folder. If you create multiple MIDI tracks and the Instrument you choose has multiple MIDI Destinations, Digital Performer will map each MIDI device to a separate channel.

Meter Bridge:

There is a Meter Width control above the meter scale.

There is a button labeled "instrmnt." Enabling this button allows you to see meters for the outputs that are mapped to your Instrument Bundles (multiple outs). The main output of your instruments are only viewable in the Tracks view.

You may also Option-Click to isolate a view, and Command-Click to show all others.

Audio Bundles:

There are two new options in the Bundles Window->Mini-Menu named Import Bundles... and Export Bundles....
Export Bundles allows you to export all audio bundles for use in any Digital Performer project.
Import Bundles allows you to import saved bundles for use in any Digital Performer project.

Tab and "\" provide Sustain (CC# 64).

General:

Control-Clicking on the track name in the Sequence Editor, Mixing Board and V-Rack allows you to set the Track Color.

Surround Tracks in the Mixing Board now display their surround meters. This does not apply to mono or stereo tracks with surround outputs.

Track folders: Organize your lengthy track lists into folders and sub-folders and show or hide track groups with a single click on the disclosure triangle.

Meter Bridge: The Meter Bridge is a new window (and central pane in the Consolidated Window) that is dedicated to monitoring all signal paths in the Digital Performer mixing environment.

Four new editing tools: The DP5 tool bar contains four new audio editing tools to speed up your edits: Trim, Slip, Slide and Roll.

Streamers, flutters & punches: Streamers, flutters and punches are visual cues that help composers, conductors and musicians to anticipate visual hits and, more generally, synchronize their music to what is happening on screen.

Enhanced click and countoff.

Enhanced input monitoring: Each audio track in DP5 now has its own separate input monitor button, allowing you to listen to a live audio signal from the track's assigned input, independent of the track's record-enable state. This is similar to "Record Safe" mode on a conventional mixer.

Soundbite Volume & Gain: Draw a volume curve on an audio clip and it stays with all instances of the clip.

MIDI Keys: The new MIDI Keys window provides convenient, basic MIDI note entry - right at your fingertips.

Productivity Enhancements: Support for Pro Tools 7, Track enable/disable, MIDI Device Setup, Waveform Editor enhancements..

Recent File Menu has a new preference (Startup Options> Number of Recent Documents). This preference allows you to control the number of listed Recent Files.

- Document Templates Open Button preference (Startup Options> Document Templates). This button opens the Document Templates Folder in the Finder.
- Toggle Expand Button command (Commands window). This new binding will toggle expand/collapse of the Track selector in Edit windows.

Pitch automation
DP's new pitch automation features make quick work of correcting audio pitch, transposing individual notes and even wholesale key and mode transposition of entire audio tracks. Users can grab DP's pencil tool or use the familiar Transpose command. Another audio sequencing first.

V-Racks
The new V-Rack feature lets users load plug-ins and virtual instruments once and then access them from all sequences in their project, so that they conserve CPU power and don't have to manage multiple instances of the same plug-in with the same settings.

Pattern Gate Plug-in
The new Pattern Gate plug-in adds driving, pulsating grooves to any music. Users can feed the Pattern Gate any audio - pads, drones, loops - and click the 16 steps to instantly create the perfect rhythmic pattern.

Exchange files with Pro Tools
Digital Performer now supports the AAF file interchange standard, which provides the most complete, up-to-date multitrack file interchange with Pro Tools and other audio and video authoring applications.

Bounce to QuickTime Movie
The new Bounce to QuickTime Movie feature lets users export DP project audio tracks directly to a QuickTime movie in one easy step.

Support for multiple Audio Unit outputs
Digital Performer now supports multiple outputs from Audio Unit virtual instruments. Users can manage both AU and Rewire outputs in the convenient and intuitive Instruments Tab in the Audio Bundles window.

Custom click sounds
Users can load any click sound they wish and control it with Digital Performer's Click & Countoff options. Many preset clicks sounds are provided, including the venerable UREI metronome click sound.

Film/Video scoring enhancements
DP 4.6 is packed with numerous enhancements for writing music for picture. Users can now open multiple QuickTime movies, one per sequence, all in the same project. Users can also view and edit multiple QuickScribe windows, one per sequence. The enhanced Find Tempo window helps users zero in quickly on the perfect tempo for a film or video cue.

This maintenance update offers numerous feature and performance enhancements, including Dynamic CPU Management, Multi Bounce and more.

Dynamic CPU Management (a plug-in imposes no demands on your host computer until it receives an audio signal from the audio track on which it is instantiated)

Saving Bounce Settings : DP 4.51 allows you to save your bounce-to-disk settings by name so that you can quickly "re-bounce" any material after making further changes to the source tracks.

Multi Bounce : The Multi Bounce command lets you run multiple saved bounce settings in one operation.
