Jazz Accompaniment Generator
MyJazzBand is a new Cocoa/CoreMIDI jazz accompaniment generator that uses intelligent chord and scale analysis to create and play realistic bass, piano, and drum accompaniments. It can be used as a jazz improvisation practice aid and compositional tool. MyJazzBand incorporates a modern Cocoa user interface and chord editor, Band-in-a-Box chord chart import, and MIDI name document (".midnam files") support.
Mac OS X 10.3.9, or 10.4.1 and above.
Will also run in 10.2.8 (unsupported) but some functions such as text completion are not supported by OS.

A long-time BIAB user, I found this program while searching for an alternative because of BIAB's poor interface.
While MyJazzBand has a clean interface, its features are primative. No styles to choose from or create (apart from the default Swing, Bossa, and Waltz styles), and no melody or/and notation to print out lead sheets will ensure MyJazzBand's destiny in the trash.
Priced half as much as BIAB at $40, it has far less than half, or an eighth of Band In A Box's features.
Spend the extra $40 and just buy the real thing.
